Brick-laid bench seating around a plunge pool and courtyard, with built-in planters and a barbecue surround, all capped in stone and finished in the same palette.
The seating is laid up in brick and capped, with gas-strut lids so the whole bench length is usable storage rather than just somewhere to sit. Around the pool the bench runs straight off the coping, so the seat, the step and the water line all read as one piece of work.
The same brickwork forms the planters and the barbecue surround. Every bed is drained and tanked before it is filled, because a brick planter built hard against a boundary wall without that detail will wick straight through into the render.
Services were run before the benches went up, so the power and water for the barbecue and garden lighting sit inside the brickwork rather than being chased in afterwards.
