Custom fit-outs and outdoor living

The timber was set first and everything else followed it. The same oak runs through the TV cabinet wall, the wine cabinet, the feature bookshelf and the walkway table, and it carries onto the stair, including the stair edges and the underside, which is the part most jobs leave in a different finish and which is exactly where the eye goes from below.

The TV wall is a full-height feature with the panel set back behind open returns and a curved end that carries around the corner. The wine cabinet runs the full ceiling height in a narrow bay, so the height does the storage work in a footprint that would otherwise be dead. The bookshelf is built into the stair wall and lit by the window above it.

Outside, the seating is laid up in brick and capped, with gas-strut lids so the whole bench length is usable storage rather than just somewhere to sit. The same brickwork forms the planters and the barbecue surround. Every bed is drained and tanked before filling, because a brick planter built against a wall without that detail will wick straight through into the render.
